The Contemporary Artists Center is a non-profit art organization founded in 1990 in the culturally rich Berkshires of Massachusetts. In 2009, after purchasing the Woodside Church & Chapel in Troy, we moved across the border to New York state.
The CAC focuses on emerging contemporary artists.
- Artists' residencies
- Art studios
…the CAC promotes the creation & appreciation of contemporary art.
We seek artists who want to produce, explore, test new concepts and expand the current debates and ideas in todays art and culture.
||Woodside Facility Project
The former Woodside Church campus in south Troy will now house a year-round artist residency program for national, international, and local artists and an exhibition space that will feature two contemporary art galleries and an area history exhibition.
The Contemporary Artists Center is currently working with a design team, composed of architects, engineers, contractors and historic preservationists, to finalize a comprehensive approach to sensitive renovation and expansion. The final project will incorporate green design and promote sustainable practices.
Phase I of our construction schedule, the opening of our artists studios and residency program, was complete in the summer of 2009.
Phase II: the renovation of our exhibition and performance space will be complete by the fall of 2014.
Please check our "Announcements" column on our homepage for updates, or sign-up for our email list.
We are excited to become part of the Troy community and look forward to forging new relationships and contributing to the creative vitality of the area.
